Husband, don’t let your eyes stop following your wife.
By: Pastor Taiwo Iredele Odubiyi

(Culled from the novel OH BABY!)

In the afternoon of the second Saturday in April, Richard was clearing his study when he saw some of the notes and books he wrote messages in, before he got married. He took one of the notes and began to read its contents.

When he finished reading it, he took another one. Here, he wrote rules for a good marriage. The female pastor of the church he was attending at that time had given him and Tammy the rules during their pre-marital counselling session.

He began to read them,

One, no put downs.

Two, be there for your spouse.

Three, romance.

Four, apologise when you have to.

Five, forgive and continue to forgive.

Six, there should not be another man or woman in your marriage and if you make an acquaintance of the opposite sex including old flames, carry your spouse along in the relationship.

Seven, love and let your spouse know you love him or her by your daily actions, activities, moves, expressions and very importantly, words.

Richard sighed. He knew all these rules and it wasn’t as if he’d forgotten them. He had even encouraged people to follow them but somehow, he had stopped obeying them himself. How could he have stopped?

As he continued reading these rules, he wondered, how did I get so distracted?

He remembered a friend telling him shortly after he and Tammy got married that he could see Richard’s eyes following Tammy around the room. The friend was right. He loved his wife so much. When did his eyes stop following her around?

When he began to feel attracted to another woman, he should have drawn closer to his wife immediately. He had heard so much about this kind of thing happening to others, but he never thought it could happen to him.

This Novel , OhBaby and others are available in bookshops and online, on Okadabooks and Amazon Kindle.

Read and be blessed.
