Don’t use your standard, or another person’s standard, to choose whom to marry. Use the standard of GOD.

There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Proverbs 14:12 KJV

In the novel, THE ONE FOR ME, I wrote :
Before she married Yemi, she made a list of things she was looking for in a man she would marry, like some ladies do, but now – there was no more list for her. She knew better, having realised that most of the things on the list were irrelevant to having a good marriage. The two most important things to her now were the spiritual state of the man, and love.
She had two questions she asked herself to determine the spiritual state. One, does he love the Lord as much as I do? Two, does he love the Lord more than I do?
And two questions to determine the love. Does he love me? Do I love him?
She would trust God and wait until she found a man who truly loved the Lord, loved her, and she loved.

And in IS IT ME YOU’RE LOOKING FOR, Tonye asked Jite, “What are you looking for? I know that some ladies are looking for men with cars and money. What do you want?”
She shook her head. “I used to want those things too but not anymore. All I want now is God’s will for me. Car or no car, if God is involved, the man will be enough for me.”
He was impressed. “Some women don’t know this. They don’t really care about what God has to say, they want what they want by any means.”
“I got carried away too. You know what? The company a person keeps is very important, a person could be affected positively or otherwise.”
He nodded and said, “You’re right.”
