DON’T COMPARE YOUR SPOUSE WITH OTHER PEOPLE
She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. (Proverbs 31:26) (NKJV)
Irrespective of whether it is the woman who compares her man to other men or the man who compares his woman to other women in his life such as his mother, sister or exgirlfriend, the act of making comparison in this regard is not right.
Strangely, when comparing, very few individuals admit that their spouses are better than others. Usually, it is that their spouses are not as good as others.
In reality, no one likes to be compared, and in marriage, more often than not, it has negative effects. Your spouse begins to feel inadequate, and instead of trying harder, he/she may be tempted to give up.
And don’t compare your children with other children as this can discourage your children. Just do whatever you need to do to help your children, and put your trust in God.
When you accept your spouse, you will not compare him/her with others. If there are things your spouse is doing that you don’t like, (and this will happen because both of you are not perfect), just talk to him/her about the unacceptable behaviour, and avoid comparing your spouse with others because this is often seen as an insult.
