DON’T HIT YOUR SPOUSE
In the novel LOVE FEVER, Ladi thought of what to do to his rude wife. He could seize the car keys from her and delay her; and he could slap her face, to teach her to mind her manners, but none of these things would solve the problem, he reasoned. She had provoked him several times. In fact, there were times he believed that she deserved a thorough beating but he had not raised his hand against her.
Ladi was right. A good man should not hit his wife, no matter the provocation, and he is supposed to give his children a good example to follow.
Besides, his strength is to protect his family, not to punch his wife.
If there are marital challenges, he should turn to God to figure out a better way to resolve the challenges.
The Bible is clear concerning this.
Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.
Colossians 3:19 NLT
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.
So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.
For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as the Lord does the church.
Ephesians 5:25-29 NKJV
