In the novel- This Time Around, Jemmy counselled her younger sister Misan not to build her life around one man and not to bother with marriage.
This was a wrong and damaging counsel. It contradicts the word of God.
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.
Genesis 2:24 NKJV
Fortunately, Misan became a Christian and began to make the right decisions.
In 2Samuel 13, Jonadab gave Amnon an ungodly counsel.
So Jonadab said to him, “Lie down on your bed and pretend to be ill. And when your father comes to see you, say to him, ‘Please let my sister Tamar come and give me food, and prepare the food in my sight, that I may see it and eat it from her hand.’ ”
II Samuel 13:5 NKJV
This bad advice eventually led to Amnon’s death.
The person giving the advise may have good intention but if the counsel is wrong, it could lead to terrible consequences. Be careful.
He who walks with wise men will be wise, But the companion of fools will be destroyed.
Proverbs 13:20 NKJV
