The pastor had been talking with the men and then he said, “As a Christian man, the responsibility of having a good and godly relationship – the kind that pleases God- lies with you. Take the lead and give the relationship direction. You should have time together for prayer, sharing of the word, and fasting.”
Most of them, including Sylvester, were taking note.
The man went on. “Also, you need to know that a true Christian man does not ask for sex before marriage, or commit fornication. And so, you should run away from sin. Don’t set yourself up for failure, set boundaries in the relationship, and honour God in your body. In First Corinthians chapter six from verse eighteen to twenty, the Bible says ‘Flee sexual immorality. Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.’ Do you understand?”
Some of them said yes.
“Another thing you’ll need to do is control your thoughts. Don’t give impure thoughts a chance, rather, keep the words of God before your eyes and think about them. The Bible says in Philippians chapter four verse eight, ‘Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
