DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS to live by
(By: Pastor Taiwo Iredele Odubiyi)
(214 ) Keep thorough records.
It is important that we keep thorough record of what we do, how we live, business, ministry, etc.
Record keeping will make a person know what is being done, measure performance, and make good decisions that will enhance productivity and prevent wastage. It makes a person know what he/she has and doesn’t have, and helps in managing resources wisely.
God instructed Moses several times to keep records of His words, commands, and events, and the following Scripture is just one of them.
Then the Lord said to Moses, “Write this for a memorial in the book and recount it in the hearing of Joshua, that I will ….”
Exodus 17:14 NKJV
But whether we keep record of how we spend our time or not, the Bible reveals that records are being kept in heaven of our lives, and a time will come, when we will stand before God to give an account, so He can reward everyone according to their deeds.
And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Revelations 20:12
Several verses in the Bible also reveal that God rewards faithfulness. If there is a reward for what is done, then there is thorough record keeping.
For the Son of Man will come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and then He will reward each according to his works.
Matthew 16:27 NKJV
God keeps records of everything, giving us an example to follow. This is what has been written concerning Jacob.
This is the account of Jacob and his family. When Joseph was seventeen years old, he often tended his father’s flocks. He worked for his half brothers, the sons of his father’s wives Bilhah and Zilpah. But Joseph reported to his father some of the bad things his brothers were doing.
Genesis 37:2 NLT
As such, we need to watch how we live, not as fools but wise, redeeming the time. Take note of how you spend time, money, and how you handle what has been committed into your care.
I pray this year brings everything that will make you smile in Jesus name.
