DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS to live by, in Year 2020

(32 ) Don’t use meaningless repetitions in prayer.

Prayer should be taken very seriously.

If Jesus could withdraw Himself from people to pray on His knees, and at another time, He prayed until His sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground, this means that prayer should not be taken lightly.

It’s not a time to use useless words, repeating empty phrases.

Jesus instructed His disciples, “And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.”
Matthew 6:7 NKJV

In other words, God is not interested in word count. It is the heart that counts before Him.

There is no need for babbling or repetition of words to fill up time, or the use of fanciful words when praying.

It’s supposed to be a time of power, where destinies encounter the God of destiny, lives are positively transformed, and satan’s plans are overturned.

When we’re praying, we’re communicating with God, and our words to Him should be from a sincere heart.

What God is after is truth. (Psalms 51:6 MSG)

Let your words come from your heart, and be yourself as you focus on God.

Jesus has atoned for our sins and we can come before God with confidence to obtain mercy and grace.

The Message version of the Bible puts Hebrews 4:16 this way, ‘Let’s walk right up to Him and get what He’s so ready to give.

However, this vain repetition of prayer is different from an intercessory kind of prayer where you have to pray for the same thing more than once.

Matthew 26:44 ESV
So, leaving them again, He went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same words again.

Scripture:

Mark 11:24 ESV
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

I pray this year brings everything that will make you smile in Jesus name.
