Questions to ask yourself before you decide he/she is the one.
By: Pastor Taiwo Iredele Odubiyi
I ministered on Sunday at  SINGLESLINK program for singles and some of the things I shared with them are the following.
1)Marriage is a divine institution that was established by God, as such you must pray and ask God for His opinion about the relationship and the man/lady. The Bible says that we’re not ignorant of the devices of Satan, and we’re not fighting against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers, etc.

2) Marriage to the right person will help the person fulfill his/her divine purpose. Before I met my husband, I knew that I’d been called by God to be a pastor, and when it was time for me to choose whom to marry, I knew I couldn’t marry just any man, the right man for me must love God and have a call.
3) Marriage to the wrong person can become a trap, a hindrance, and you may never be able to step in, to fulfill your divine purpose.
4) If a person perceives God’s call upon his/her life, the person should not marry anyhow or just anyone. This is because of the call of God upon his/her life. In the Old Testament of the Bible, God gave instructions to the priests and Levites concerning marriage because of their calling.
5) The main purpose of marriage is so that a person can fulfill God’s assignment. Sex, children, and the other things that come with marriage are benefits. God created Eve and brought him to Adam to help him fulfill God’s assignment.
6) Marrying right or wrong will affect the children too.
7) Some of the questions to ask yourself and God are:
a)is this person born again, a true child of God, (that is if you’re one)
b)do we have same values /beliefs
c)are we friends, can we laugh together, play, pray, and enjoy each other’s company
d)Does he/she love me
e)do I love her/him
f)will marrying this person help me fulfill God’s mandate for my life, to step into God’s plan for my life
g)does he/she have a godly influence/mentor
h)is he/she growing as a Christian, growing in the things of God?
