The issue:
I am dealing with this issue of a relationship with a married man today, not to condemn the single ladies out there who are spending time with or dating married men but to help them, give them hope, and let them know that they could have a better deal as there are many good and available men who could marry them. These ladies also need to know that dating a married man is sinful according to the word of God. Many single ladies have found themselves in numerous scenarios like the one above about Teju. Some of them thought they could handle the relationship but soon crossed the boundary, deeply falling in, and ended up getting deeply hurt.
What to do if you are getting close
When you find out that you are having feelings or getting close to a married person, pull back immediately because it’s an ill wind that blows no one any good. Don’t linger and roll into an affair but go to God in prayer. Ask Him for wisdom on how to deal with the problem. Also go for counselling. If you can end contact with the man, this might be the best solution. In which case, you stay away from the married man and distance yourself as much as you can. He will soon know you are avoiding him.
But if you can’t avoid seeing him because you work together probably, there are other methods of staying safe – like getting to know his spouse and children, reduction of discussions or activities that stimulate thoughts, and staying in God’s word. Asking for wisdom from God and obeying what wisdom says is crucial for surviving the situation.
