Behold, I do a new thing!

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. 19 See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
(Isaiah 43:18-19)

It is a new month and God is doing a new thing.
He wants this to be a sign to some people that He can do a new thing in their lives if they will let Him.

V:18 – Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past – not because they are not relevant but because dwelling on the past will hinder us from seeing, embracing, and experiencing the new things that God has in store. Dwelling on the past will make us limit God to what we have seen.

Moses and the children of Israel saw the power of God demonstrated in Egypt but the parting of the Red Sea beat their imagination. That was a new thing.

David had experienced the power of God several times but when Saul and his soldiers who came to kill him fell down, prophesying, he was shocked.

(Excerpts from the novel WHAT CHANGED YOU) – Saul’s soldiers stopped to see what was going on. They heard the prophets prophesying, telling of the greatness of God. They saw Samuel. They also saw David where he was and their eyes met.

Their leader nodded at the others. Pointing in the direction of David, he said, “That’s him! Let’s take him!”
With that, they stepped into the midst of the prophets. Suddenly, they all fell down on their faces.
David was shocked. What made them fall? Would they get up to come after him? Should he run while he could? He looked at Samuel again who by now had opened his eyes and was looking at the armed men on the ground. Samuel laughed a little, worshipped God and continued prophesying.
The leader of Saul’s men was the first to throw his sword and shield away, and he began to laugh, rolling on the ground. His men did the same.
What’s going on? David wondered.
Suddenly, the men began to prophesy on top of their voices, talking about the awesome power of God.
David almost couldn’t believe what he was seeing and hearing! He thought the men would stop soon but they did not. They continued all night. When they became tired, they slept there on the ground.

That was a new thing and David realised that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we may ask or think according to the power that works in us. (Ephesians 3:20)
God has new things He wants to do for us if we will cooperate and allow Him.
In the Bible the children of Israel limited God.
Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel. (Psalm 78:41)

Now it springs up, do you not perceive it – this means that the new thing God is doing has already started, don’t you see it?

How can you receive the new thing from God?
1)Be sensitive in the Spirit
2)Obey His instructions
3)Be where you should be to receive the new thing.
