I met my fiancé some months ago and he proposed to marry me after a while. My siblings are happy about it as we are all girls but I really don’t want to get married before them because I am the last girl, besides the first born is not even married yet. I’m really feeling uncomfortable about this. What should I do? (Lady)
Answer (Pastor Taiwo Iredele Odubiyi):
I’ll start by revealing that I got married six years before my sister who is three years older than me. I’ve had my children by then and they were her little bride and flower girls.
Through it all however, I was praying for and encouraging her, and so there was no reason for her to be bitter or envious. Besides, she’s not that kind of a person. What people do is a matter of who they are.
God answered my sister’s prayer, and I hope this makes you (dear reader) realise that God does not forget His people and has not forgotten you.
As I have been pointing out in my books, messages, and this family, God wants us to take every matter to Him in prayer for He cares for us.
And so, dear ‘lady’ in this case, it’s a good thing that you’re considering the feelings of your sisters. This shows a good heart but I’d advise you take your feelings and the situation before God in prayer.
If you do, I’m certain God is going to tell you to go ahead and get married because He is in control and will answer your sisters’ prayers too. It may seem a little weird to get married before older siblings but if God is involved, it is not weird. He makes all things beautiful in His time. He has a plan and time for everyone.
It may take some time but your sisters’ turn will come if they don’t give up and put their trust in God.
