I mentioned this in one of my novels : The Forever kind of Love.
Excerpts:
On Sunday morning, Ibie felt like going to church with her family. She knew she didn’t have to stay at home for forty days before she could take her children to church for dedication. She and her babies were healthy and doing well. But she decided to stay at home because she knew she still needed to rest. Her body was still tender and she was breast feeding two baby boys who fed like soldiers……
The following Sunday, she went to church with her twin babies. Some people were surprised to see her. They had thought she would observe the forty days at home like some people believed.
Smiling, she explained, “No, I don’t have to stay at home for forty days. Pentecostal Christians don’t observe that. If the mother and child or children are okay, and the Mother is strong enough to go out, they can go to church. There’s no reason they shouldn’t. ”
Christians don’t have to observe the forty days or 3months stay-at-home belief.
The new mother and her child or children need to be in good health before they begin to go out. No controversy over that!
But what usually happens is this – they go out to different places, visit their parents, in-laws, etc but don’t go to church until the 40 days or 3 months, etc are fulfilled.
That is wrong, and should make us sense immediately that the idea does not give regard to God.
If they can go out to visit people and places, then they should go to church and give glory to God the giver of all good things.
If a belief or tradition seems good and reasonable but does not give regard to God, we should be careful.
God will help and direct us to do what is right at all times, in Jesus name.
Read our books, they will do you a world of good.
