(49 ) Stay away from covetousness
Jesus said … for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses.
Luke 12:15 NKJV
Covetousness also means greediness, materialism. None of these words is pleasant.
Covetousness makes people do wrong things, they make wrong decisions and get into trouble.
Its path leads to eternal damnation, and you must avoid it.
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
I Timothy 6:10 NKJV
I attended a marriage ceremony some years back where souvenirs were being shared to guests and I was surprised at some people’s behaviour. They collected the gift items, hid them under their tables and lied that they had not collected any. They would hold their hands out, get more, and put them under the table. I was speechless. Must they do this?
Now godliness with contentment is great gain.
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and clothing, with these we shall be content.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.
