While they were talking, Mercy’s phone vibrated and then began to ring. She checked, it was Dayo.
“Oh!” She said and picked it. “Hello, how are you?” She smiled.
“I’m fine. Are you back from Abeokuta?”
“Yes. We returned around five. I got back home not quite long.”
“Mercy, you won’t believe this.”
“What?”
Lekan and Stella who had been talking stopped and looked at her.
“I went to your Facebook page and discovered we share the same birthday!” Dayo said.
“You’re kidding, right?” She hadn’t checked his details when she went on Facebook in the morning.
“No kidding.” He laughed. “I was surprised!”
“You’re December 29?” She was equally surprised.
“Yes!”
“Wow! Are we the same age? How old are you?” She asked.
“I’m sure I’m older than you.” He said and chuckled.
“Don’t be too sure.”
“I’m going to be twenty seven.” He declared.
She laughed. “In that case, you’re older, three years older than me.”
“I told you.” He said, and then laughed. “This is interesting.”
“It is.” She agreed.
Mercy asked Dayo about his day.
He told her and then said, “Well, I just wanted you to know about the birthday thing.”
“Alright. I’ll bring the shirts along on Friday.” She said.
“Okay. I’ll see you then. Bye.”
“Bye.”
When the call ended and she put her phone down, Lekan asked her, “Who was that?”
“Dayo. He works with Pastor Femi.” She answered.
“Is he the one you said you met yesterday, who brought you home from Pastor Femi’s house?” Stella asked.
“Yes.”
“Did he say you’re the same birthday?” Lekan asked.
“Yes. He said he went on my Facebook page and saw my birthday.” Mercy explained.
“Why was he searching your Facebook page anyway?” Stella asked.
Mercy laughed.
“He is three years older?” Lekan asked.
“Yes.”
“Is he married?”
“No.”
“Is he in a relationship?”
Mercy laughed. “I wouldn’t know, although I think he said … never mind. What’s my business with that?”
“Is he a Christian?”
Mercy nodded. “He worships at Great Grace Chapel.”
Lekan took her cell phone and said, “Since he went on your Facebook page, we should check his page too.”
They laughed.
“What’s his name?” Lekan wanted to know.
Mercy laughed and said nothing.
“Mercy, what’s his name?” Stella also asked.
She told them and Lekan began to press her phone.
When Stella also picked her phone and began to press it, Mercy told them, “Both of you are not serious.”
Lekan asked, “Is that him?”
Mercy laughed.
“He’s not bad looking.”
For about thirty seconds, they didn’t talk as Lekan and Stella glanced through his page.
