DIVINE INSTRUCTIONS to live by, in Year 2020

(44 ) Detest what is evil.

Romans 12:9 says – Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good.

To detest or abhor something is to hate, despise, loathe, and scorn, the thing.
All these are strong words that mean – oppose evil and all kinds of ungodliness.

You should hate evil because God hates it.

Proverbs 6:16-19 ESV
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers.

You should hate evil if you love God.

Psalm 97:10 ESV
O you who love the Lord, hate evil! He preserves the lives of His saints; He delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

Have no contact with evil. Don’t tolerate it and don’t approve of it.

Don’t just avoid evil or complain about it – detest it!

When you feel this way about evil, you will flee from every appearance of it.

You should be like the blessed person in Psalms 1 who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in God’s law he meditates day and night.
Psalms 1:1‭-‬2 NKJV

Be careful however that while hating evil, you don’t hate people. Be like your Father in heaven.

Scriptures:

Amos 5:15 ESV
Hate evil, and love good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the Lord, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.

Proverbs 8:13 ESV
The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil and perveyrted speech I hate.

I pray this year brings everything that will make you smile in Jesus name.
