What’s going on? David wondered.
Suddenly, the men began to prophesy on top of their voices, talking about the awesome power of God.
David almost couldn’t believe what he was seeing and hearing! He thought the men would stop soon but they did not. They continued all night. When they became tired, they slept there on the ground.
David could not sleep though. He lay on his face, wondering about what God had done. Filled with awe, he began to praise and worship, saying, “I cried to the Lord in my trouble and He saved me. Oh that men would praise the Lord for His goodness and for His wonderful works to the children of men.”
When Saul’s men woke up the next day, Samuel asked his men to give them food.
As Saul’s servants ate, they wondered at what had happened to them. And why were they eating in Samuel’s house? Where did the words they were saying yesterday come from and why had they not arrested David? Confused, and terribly afraid and shaken, they quickly ate and left hurriedly to go and tell Saul all about it.Some days after, David was in the company of Samuel and the prophets again and they were prophesying when another group of men came, sent by Saul.
Oh Lord, save me! David prayed again. He had not expected Saul to send another set of men after hearing the reports of the servants who prophesied.
David remained where he was and waited for an instruction or word from Samuel who saw the men, but there was no word from Samuel as he went on prophesying with the other prophets.
Saul’s men came into the midst of the prophets to take David, but suddenly fell down on their faces. Soon, they threw their swords away and began to laugh and prophesy as well.
David was shocked. He was experiencing another dimension of God’s power and he wondered in his heart – how great is this God?
Much later in the day, when he was alone, he felt inspired and began to write.
I will exalt You, my God the King; I will praise Your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise You and extol Your name for ever and ever.
Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom. One generation commends Your works to another; they tell of Your mighty acts. They speak of the glorious splendor of Your majesty—and I will meditate on Your wonderful works. They tell of the power of Your awesome works—and I will proclaim Your great deeds. They celebrate Your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of Your righteousness.
The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love. The Lord is good to all; He has compassion on all He has made. All Your works praise You, Lord;
Your faithful people extol You. They tell of the glory of Your kingdom and speak of Your might, so that all people may know of Your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of Your kingdom. Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and Your dominion endures through all generations.
The Lord is trustworthy in all He promises and faithful in all He does. The Lord upholds all who fall and lifts up all who are bowed down. The eyes of all look to You, and You give them their food at the proper time. You open Your hand and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
The Lord is righteous in all His ways and faithful in all He does. The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth. He fulfills the desires of those who fear Him; He hears their cry and saves them. The Lord watches over all who love Him, but all the wicked He will destroy.
My mouth will speak in praise of the Lord. Let every creature praise His holy name for ever and ever.This #Novel #WhatChangedYou is available on okadabooks
